Today being Christmas, I am reminded of how many people misunderstand "peace on earth, and good will toward men." If the passage is consulted in Holy Scripture, it actually says "good will toward men upon whom His favor rests."

God's good will is toward those whom He favors with His sovereign, electing love. His favor is on His elect, and not on everyone. Likewise, Christ's purpose in His righteous life and death was for His people, the elect, and not for everyone.

This Christmas season, let us meditate on the fact that God is glorious in His plan of salvation!
